I Can See for Miles and Miles

It was time again for the old eye exam. I'm never going to pass it, lol! So I ended up getting new glasses, and they have bling! I got the Transition lenses too. I can go out in the sun without going blind, yay! Of course it's cloudy and gray today so I can't try them out in the sun yet.

I've been doing very little knitting. My hand is doing much better. I started another one of those little kitties because I just HAVE to be knitting something. I'm just doing a little at a time. I went to CVS and got myself a hand brace glove thingy to help with the pain. It's nice and snug. I hope this helps!

I will try the glove out tonight while watching Grey's Anatomy. Another new one on tonight. Very exciting to me!

I got some more project bags done. I just can't stop making them. They're a fun easy little project, and each one is so cute. So then I buy more fabric and make more and on and on and on.

Tomorrow is Friday. I am so glad! And a new yarn store is opening in the area, I will definitely be going there this weekend. I'm so excited! AND out of the blue the other day my boss gave me a nice fat bonus. Yarn and fabric money! It doesn't get much better than this.

I'm off to the couch to knit while wearing my new little glove.

Almost done!

I have one more repeat on the shawl! Hip hip hooray! I'm so close to the end I can almost taste it. After that repeat, there are four rows of garter stitch and then I can weave in the ends. I'll be so glad to be done with this. There is a new episode of Grey's Anatomy on tonight, I'll be on the couch knitting while I watch it. I know I won't finish tonight, but I'll get close. So exciting!

I bought some calico fabric to make my sister a little project bag. Then I'm going to get some more fabric to make my other sister a bag too. Once this shawl is done, I'm going to sew up a storm for a few days! So many family members want my little bags. Can't wait to get started!

Winter Weather Advisory . . . Again :(

The Very Cabley Mittens are done. Cables all over the place. I like how they turned out, and this yarn was nice to work with. I'm loving the color! I used Cascade 220. My first time using it.

Now I'm working on the scarf for my daughter. It's more than halfway done, yay! I'm working on it every spare minute. I'm going to go see her this weekend and I want to take the Finished Object with me so she can use it for the remainder of the winter from hell. It's 47 inches at this point, I want to take it to 65 inches, then add fringe. I rented the last 2 DVDs of Grey's Anatomy to watch while I knit. I'm making great progress while watching those DVDs.

Once I get this scarf done I can start on the knit-alongs I've decided to do, the camo-along which is one where we are knitting fingerless mitts with camoflauge yarn and the beret-along where I will be knitting a beret. Still waiting for my yarn to come for that one.

I had this Calla Lily kit which I won at our Block Party a year or two ago, forgot all about it. So I planted it yesterday. Let's see if it grows. Since I can't get outside and do stuff yet, I'll grow things inside. While watching the snow fall. Again. Another winter storm advisory for tonight and tomorrow. Sigh.

It's THAT day

It's THAT day. I wouldn't even acknowledge it because I hate it so much, but . . . I did a Valentine's Day swap in a singles group on Ravelry since we feel left out on this day. It was so much fun! I love the stuff I got from my swap partner, she spoiled me.

Look at all that stuff! SWS yarn, I love that stuff! Can't wait to cast on something with it. And goodies galore: colorful stitch markers, darning needles, lip shaped soap, a magnet, AND a candy bar! Thank you Nikki!

I bought this beautiful Cascade 220 yarn not too long ago from an on line store (Sonny & Shear, great customer service!) and finally took it from skein to ball the other night. I do not have a ball winder or a swift, so let me tell you, this was quite the little project. Stupid cats wouldn't help, so I had to do it by myself. I put the skein on my feet to hold it in place, and then started the winding process. It didn't take too long. It turned out like this:

Quite tidy. I'm proud of my little yarn cake. And the color is just gorgeous! I started knitting a pair of mittens called Very Cabley Mittens (pattern on Ravelry). I've gotten this much done so far.

I finally made it through all the cables on the cuff of the first mitten. Look at all those little cables I did.

Tonight I'll start the body of the mitten. While watching more episodes of Grey's Anatomy. I'm such an addict. To yarn, Grey's, knitting, chocolate. Life is good today! I think I have my knitting mojo back.

Winter Doldrums

It's freezing today. Again. So sick of it. It it's not freezing it's snowing or sleeting or freezing rain or windy or snowing. I know it's winter and I'm stuck inside, but I'm so darn tired of being cold and weather events every day. It's depressing.

My daughter loved the beret! Pixie was glad to give it up and just go on being a cat again instead of a model. Surprise surprise, my daughter came home for the weekend! Long story, but she's on her way back to school now. I can't wait for that phone call that tells me she's arrived safe and sound.

I've been sitting on the couch all afternoon since she left knitting. I love my couch, it's so comfy.

It's like my own little world there. Just watching DVDs and knitting. I'm still working my way through the seasons of Grey's Anatomy.

I got these two books from the library the other day:

The Vogue Vintage Knits has a pattern for two colors mittens I want to try. But I need some yarn for them, and this is knit from the stash month. Sigh. So I will wait. I've got some other things I want to knit first. I haven't cracked open the Elizabeth Zimmerman book yet. Maybe later when my wrists get sore from knitting. I'm knitting some mittens. No, not socks, remember, I don't do socks? I tried socks, didn't like socks, I don't want to knit socks, and if I don't fit in because I don't knit socks, so be it.

I Wish I Was In Hawaii

Nasty weather here today. Just plain old wintry nasty weather. From rain to freezing rain to sleet to snow to wind and more snow and it just won't stop. I had a hell of a drive getting home from work. But I made it. Safe and sound. I'm in for the night. Not going anywhere in this crap. A good night to stay inside and knit.

This foreclosure crisis just sucks. My son is losing is house. It's in foreclosure. Today is moving day. In this sucky weather. I feel so bad for him. It breaks my heart. It's bad enough that he has to move but he has to move in this crud.

No pictures today. I'm still working on the pink beret for my daughter. I'm hoping to finish it tonight. I'm still knitting from the stash. I've made it to the 6th already without buying more.

So I will be on my couch tonight with my knitting. I've got one more episode to watch on the season 2 DVD of Grey's Anatomy that I rented. Then I can move on to season 2 disc 3. I didn't watch the program when it first came on the air, but lately have gotten into watching it. I'm really enjoying the DVDs. But first, some dinner. Easy and simple tonight: BLT sandwich. Yummmmmm!

Take Your Downspout to Work Day

We sure had some wicked weather last night and into today. It was freezing cold and I think the wind gusts were up to around 50 MPH. It blew one of my downspouts off the side of my house. I found it laying all cold and lonely in the driveway when I was leaving for work. I tried to fit it back onto the other part of the downspout but it would have no part of it, just couldn't fit the pieces together, it was windy and so cold and dark I said the hell with it and just threw it in my car. It was too cold to do much else with it. So my downspout went to work with me, it got a day on the town. How silly is that? We even went to the gas station. When I got home I managed to work it back onto the other part of the downspout and now all is well with my downspouts again. But it's still cold. Very cold. I have my little space heater on. It's helping to keep me warm today.

I actually cooked dinner today. That's the first in about oh two or three weeks. A real meal that is, not eggs or canned soup or Stouffer's. I made some oven fried chicken and Stove Top stuffing and some corn. It was soooooo good. So while the chicken was cooking I managed to get this fingerless mitten done.

I don't know. I just don't really like it, had so many problems making it. The yarn keeps bunching up, and the pattern is just written so weird, you have to jump all over the place to keep up with it. But I will make the second one and probably send it back to school with my daughter this weekend, she can give it away to a friend. Yes! My daughter is coming home this weekend! I'm excited. I'm looking forward to seeing her. I miss her so much and she misses home a lot.

I received this little beauty yesterday from an on line order I placed. So soft and pretty.

It's not a big ball of yarn, should be just enough for a pair of fingerless mitts. Time to try a new pattern. It's merino and angora. So so soft.

Gotta go clean up the kitchen. One of the pitfalls of cooking . . . dishes. Then I'm on the couch for the night. I'm going to finish season one of Grey's Anatomy that I rented from the library the other night and then American Idol. A good night of couch and tv and knitting!

The Big Box of Yarn

There it is . . . the big box of yarn! Look at all that yarn. Isn't it gorgeous? Don't you just want to sit and knit 24/7? I do! Where did it come from you ask? One of the readers of this very blog is a former knitter. She has gone on to new pursuits and doesn't have time to knit any longer. She is doing photography (for a yummy cookbook which I can't wait to buy!) and needed the room to store her photography equipment. She offered to send me the yarn and in exchange I would knit her some fingerless mittens. I have mailed the fingerless mittens to her and am hoping they have arrived. I'm so paranoid they will get lost in our wonderful postal system. So, there you have it . . . the story of the yarn. With all that yarn she sent me, I feel like I should send more fingerless mittens, and maybe I will!

Just look at these cute needles! They are for big needle knitting, and they are absolutely adorable.

It's been like Christmas all over again going through this yarn! It's wonderful to know there are some truly generous people out there.

I finally got the fingerless mitts done that I was making for myself. I had put them aside to get the gift mitts done.

Finally, it's Friday Sweet Friday! The work week is done. I stopped at the library on my way home from work and picked up a couple of books and some videos. I got season 1 of Grey's Anatomy. I've recently gotten hooked on that show and I want to see how it started. I'll be knitting and watching videos this weekend. Peaceful and relaxing!

Have a great weekend!
