Almost Easter

Wow, I've really neglected my blog lately. Have you missed me?

Not much going on. My daughter is home from school for the weekend. We are going to dye eggs today. We haven't done that in years. I'm having Easter with my kids on Saturday since my daughter has to leave to go back to school on Sunday. I bought us a butter lamb to use with our dinner. It's kind of a tradition in this house.

I saw my cousin the other day and she gave me that glass bunny. Hard to get a picture of it. It was my aunt's bunny, the aunt who passed away almost a year ago. It reminds me of my little bluebird of happyness glass bird that I have. I need to go on a hunt and find that thing and set it out by the bunny.

I'm still plugging away on the clapotis. I'm just a little over halfway done.

I laid it on the floor to take pictures and suddenly Shadow was my best friend. She would not stay away.

She must think it's there just for her. I would push her off, she'd get right back on it before I could snap the picture.

So I'm showing you clapotis pics all with a cat in them. Cozy little kitty.

Time to go check on my eggs. They should almost be done cooking.

Veterans Day

It's Veterans Day today. Thank a Veteran if you know one. I didn't get the day off, I'm not one of the lucky ones who gets the day off to go to all the Veterans Day sales. Everything is so commercial.

I made a couple more cat toys over the weekend. These are for my cousin's kitty. They're in the mail to her as a surprise. But no mail today, so hopefully she'll get them tomorrow.

They work up quickly. I need to make some for my kitties.

I had my Katie cremated. This is the urn I will keep her in. I thought it was so cute. A kitty and yarn.

I really miss that cat.

I've been working on the Spring Forward socks. I have the heel turned on one. Yay!

This is the best heel I've done so far. Now it's onto the foot. But I may set it aside for a few days and work on something else. Can't show you yet.

So tell me, what are you working on?

A Heartfelt Thank You

First off, let me say a great big thank you for your kind comments about my Katie. I'm just amazed what a big impact she had on my life and what a void there is now. These little pets sure do make a difference in our lives. She is missed very much.

Isn't it amazing how sometimes things just happen when you really need them? I came home from work the other and my aunt had sent me some homemade ornaments . . . just because! She had no idea about my kitty. These sure brought a smile to my face. I love each and every one and will be so honored to hang them on my Christmas tree.

They came to me at the perfect time.

Now I'll talk about some knitting goodness. I did get my fair isle hat done last week, and finally have a picture to show you. I really like it. It's all blocked and ready to wear.

I love it! What a fun technique to know. I can't wait to make something else with two colors. I did get some yarn for a future project. I can't believe how absolutely soft this yarn is:

I just can't get a good picture of the beautiful pink color with my camera, so that will have to do.

And last but not least, I have a friend who was selling some yarn for her friends. Beautiful alpaca. I just HAD to buy some. OMG, just absolutely heavenly soft. It feels like a cloud. I love just petting the skeins.

I don't know what I'll make with it yet. So until then, I'll just keep petting it.

Yay, it's the weekend!

I'm soooooooooo glad it's Friday and the weekend is here! Next week I'm taking Friday off and will have a nice long weekend.

I've been working on my fair isle hat. Really fun! I like this technique. I've made some progress and you can see it this time.

What do you think? I'm loving it!

I heard that knitting bags were on clearance at Michaels. I finally got there today and they had some left. Yay! I got one, and I just love it. Can't wait to fill it up. Half price too! $11.99. Not bad at all.

I see a cat was walking by as I snapped the picture. See the kitty tail? LOL! Oh my funny cats!

It's supposed to be a rainy dreary weekend. Good one to stay inside and knit. And make soup! I bought a cute little soup pot the other day. It's a 3 quart and I just love it. The perfect size for me.

Time to go browse the cookbooks and see what kind of soup recipe calls out to be made.

April Snowshowers Bring May Flowers?

It's snowing. Sunday, April 13, and it's snowing. I just might have to bake cookies, lol! I switched my closet around yesterday, got out my spring/summer work clothes and put away the winter work clothes, sweaters, etc. Hmmmmm. I went to the thrift store too and found some new (to me) tops and did a way fun shopping spree at Kohl's! I haven't bought brand new clothes in ages. It was fun!

I've been knitting on the shawl I'm making for my Mom for Mother's Day. It's coming along, slowly. The pattern calls for 18 repeats. I have 7 repeats done, but I may have to go up to 20. It takes me two hours to do one repeat, so this is pretty slow going. But it's turning out nice. See . . .

I did get a little bit of sewing in lately. I finished a couple more project bags. I love each one. It's hard to part with them.

I mailed that little purple kitty that I knitted to my daughter and she LOVES it! A lot of her friends want one too. Don't know if I'll have time to make them any as she only has about 3 1/2 more weeks of school and this shawl comes first. Maybe I should grow some more arms so I can knit all the stuff I want to and still have time left over to sew.

We're getting a brand new yarn store in the area I live in! I'm so excited. I stalk it, I mean drive by it, at least once a week to check progress. Not open yet. I feel like I'm on that old commercial, I think it was for Mervyn's . . . "Open, open, open . . ."

Meow

Wow! It's been beautiful outside all weekend! Except for Friday when I went to the baseball game and froze my ass off. I'm going outside after I post this.

I finished the little kitty I was knitting. I think it's so cute! I'm going to mail it to my daughter at school. She loves getting little gifties from mom.

I went outside yesterday and checked out my yard, looking to see if anything is growing yet. I planted some tulips and daffodils last fall. And look! They are starting to poke through the ground. I'm so excited!

Spring is really here this time! Hopefully we're done with evil snow.

As a kid I loved The Little House on the Prairie series of books. They were one of my absolute favorites. I'm in a group on Ravelry and we're re-reading them. I have the whole set in the basement, except for the very first one, it's missing. So, I checked ebay and bid on it and won. Now we will have the complete set again. I'm so happy to be reading these books again.

I babysat the grandkids last night while my son and his wife went out to celebrate her birthday. I had so much fun with them. They are a crack-up, especially the little guy. He's four. He found my old eyeglasses, and of course had to show me that he found them.

Being a gramma is fun, you can enjoy having kids around without all the work.

I hope the weather is nice where you are. I'm going outside now to enjoy it.
